Who Am I? And Why Am I Here?

Who am I and why am I here? My name is Miko and I am The New Statistic! What is the New statistic you may ask? well let me tell you. I have Beat the odds of what society calls a statistic. I come from a single mother; I have witnessed her go through many struggles in my young life. Many parents may not realize but their children are watching and what the child/ren witness can shape them into who they will become. Therefore, many of the dysfunction that I witnessed placed me in some of the statistical categories that I will discuss throughout this blog. One, is that I from a single mother and I am a single mother. I had my daughter at the age of 16, and as statistics show most teenage parents will become pregnant within 4 years of the first child. And another statistic is that I had my son 4 years later. As I began to mature, I made a promise to my children that I would do better. Beating the odds was not easy, and I went through so much to get to where I am today. I tried to break the cycle of being a single mother twice by getting married and trying the blending family thing. That was not in the plans that God had for my life. I had to find my happiness and my success, which, with my success it came from different areas of my life. It took time to get to where I am, but in time and growth came a beautiful butterfly. I had goals set for my life in which one of those goals was to have a bachelor’s degree before my daughter graduated from High school. Today I stand with a PhD in Christian Psychology, soon to be published author. The New Statistic! Beating the Odds of what everyone said I would be. The challenges, struggles, failed relationships both within and not within my family, I was able to find the love within, joy, peace, and real happiness. I want to help others who may have gone through similar struggles with parenting and still become the women, parent that God has created you to be. You will overcome. You can become The New Statistic and Beat the Odds.
